The client is still deciding if they will spend the extra money for cedar which is what we'd prefer , or go with hardipanel. The hardipanel definitely gives a more "po-mo" look more contemporary vs.

It has also been difficult to source properly colored z-channel for in between the hardipanels, and the z channel that is readily available and cheap is galvanized, so doesn't really accept paint unless you spend ungodly hours sanding it first, or dipping it in an awful acid-etch chemical bath. This is of course before any milling or finishing.

To be honest, this project is low on a list of other things around the property, which has a lot to do with why it hasn't been completed. Other projects already underway for the same client have stolen the focus and budget, as well as the economy, yadda yadda.

We did do a couple of test panels with the rough cut 2x4's, and while it might work for some applications, without milling the edges there is just too much variance where the boards butt against each other gaps left exposed by warped boards We also did some tests with the Japanese burnt cedar method we've been seeing around lately, but getting a controlled look takes a decent amount of time and practice, so we abandoned that thought though we still might go that route for the vertical accent panels.

Hope this information helps others trying to figure out how most affordably to side their modern project! The colors are actually pretty in sync. My advice would be to paint the brown wood doors white or glossy black.

Spread the bed keeping the white duvet you have there but folding the fur throw nicely down at the bottom of the bed and then adding some oversized pillows and a small bolster for the bed in a third color. Then consider a large area rug for under the bed something in a trellis pattern in a gray that matches the headboard and bring some uniformity to the bed by putting in a second nightstand and then you need the scale to match so I would find 2 much taller lamps that are in a bolder shape to go on the bedside tables.

Since you have a mitsubishi ac, you should get rid of the ceiling fan and drop a crystal chandelier over the bed. As for the bathroom area, you need to glam it up. Get a small white leather or white linen slipper chair and put a large basket of towels in the room.

Warm it up by having another basket filled with books and magazines. Get a console table in lucite to put some decanters and lotions and cottonballs in a jar on it. Those types of things. Then pick out some re-positionable wall paper and jazz up the panels of that wood wall.

Get a large italianate mirror and put that over the long wall where the tub is and then put a large fluffly area rug by the tub. Then the whole place needs art. Can i put 2 different laminate floors together Q. Depends on the layout you'll be making. You could add an edge between the two floors if you're using the extension for another purpose. But better save some bucks to install a full floor, will always look better.

I second Dytecture - there is a way to mix multiple fabrics and leathers, but it needs to be assessed by a designer. It's too hard to say yes without seeing all the pieces, the rest of the room, knowing your style, etc. A lot goes into mixing to get the right combination. DLMGW 12 years ago. Yes, absolutely, you can do this. It's perfect, I love it, it's mine. So would I just paint my final mix onto a piece of white cardboard and bring it in? Yes, all you need is a good dry sample on a piece of cardboard.

Tip 10 — Try to keep tabs with how much paint, in total, you have mixed and mix enough for your project. Relatively speaking, if you are mixing paint in a five gallon bucket, once the paint is about half-way up the bucket you know you have about 2. The worst case scenario would be to not have enough paint…remember, you are mixing leftover paint and did not choose this from a color swatch at the paint center! Also, a reminder about Tip 4 — you will want about a quart of leftover paint to keep on hand for touchups over the years unless you are like my mom and like to repaint almost every room every year.

All in all, mixing together paints is not hard and can be a really inexpensive way to refresh or update your home as long as you are not dead-set on a specific color! That, my friends, is a pretty good deal. Just remember to work slowly and add colors in small increments as this is really the secret in mixing leftover paints when trying to create something new. When we talk about mixing 2 pack paints, such as Rust-Oleum Pegakote Floor Paint for instance, the importance of ensuring an even homogeneous mix really does become important as poor mixing of 2 pack paints can lead to disastrous effects.

When you mix a two pack paint you are initiating a chemical reaction which then starts the paints curing process. A poor mix could lead to the paint curing too fast or areas where the activator has not been mixed with the paint. If done correctly paint will dry completely. If you do not mix the paint adequately it will dry in patches, or worst not dry at all. So how do you mix a 2 pack paint correctly?

Firstly, it is almost impossible to mix more than a 1 litre tin of 2 pack paint by hand. You will require a paddle mix and power drill to carry out correct mixing.

Two pack paints will be supplied in 2 components or tins. The base is normally the larger of the tins and the activator the smaller. Both will be pre measured for the correct mixing ratio.

The manufacturers will always insist that you do not part mix as this can lead to incorrect quantities being used resulting in areas that may not dry. As previously discussed, 2 packs come in two components typically a base and an activator. When storing paint the solids can settle. It is therefore a good idea to give the base component a mix with the paddle mix and power drill on a low speed setting to thoroughly mix the components together.

In many cases the tin of base will be large enough to receive the hardener and allow for mechanical mixing. Now add the activator. Although it may seem tempting do not just pour the whole content of the tin into the base. You need to aim for a smooth consistent pour whilst mixing with the paddle mix and power drill on a low speed setting.

Continue adding and stirring until both components have been evenly combined and you have achieved a homogeneous mix. Before you commit to a large pour, figure out what the paint will look like by mixing up a smaller batch. As long as the proportions are the same for both batches, the colors should look the same. If you don't mix thoroughly, you'll risk uneven color and patchy coverage. Your best bet is a paint mixing attachment that connects with your drill, but if you don't have one, you can use a stir stick—just be sure to stir for at least 2 or 3 minutes, or until the colors are completely mixed.

Applying mixed paint will usually void any sort of manufacturer warranty, since companies can't guarantee that the new formula will hold up, and results can be, well, mixed. To avoid future headaches, stick with paint projects that won't see a lot of wear and tear and that are easy enough to repaint in the future—think coffee tables, not kitchen floors.
